The result is a wheel that weighs 45% less than the original set and possesses a 30% inertia reduction.

A mounted set of magnesium wheels weighs about 7.5 kilograms (16.53 pounds) and is completely interchangeable with the original set, except for the sprocket which needs to be replaced with a model that complies with the Marchesini standard (available from most sprocket manufacturers).
